2006 OSA Student Leadership Conference

at OSA Annual Meeting in Rochester, NY

Ms Svetlana Pishko (2005-2006 KNU OSA Student Chapter Secretary) attended the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Optical Society of America (Rochester, NY, 8-12 October 2006) as a representative of our Chapter.

The OSA Annual Meeting program included over 800 presentations covering cutting-edge research topics in optical science and engineering, for applications such as telecommunications, homeland security, new energy sources, and medicine.

Every year, leaders from each OSA Student Chapter are invited to attend this lively, one-day meeting where they come together to share ideas, brainstorm and learn about effective strategies to manage their chapters.

This year, there was a special segment focusing on educational outreach.

On return, Svetlana made a seminar at the School of Radiophysics and shared her experience of attending the Leadership Meeting:

We met other student chapter leaders from around the world, discussed our research and public outreach activities, shared ideas and experience, and simply had fun! It was very interesting to communicate with people from other countries who have different backgrounds and hobbies.

It was really great!

Join us! Have fun!
