The workshop has also become a social phenomenon that helped participants to get to know each other, network with their peers and mentors and share ideas. For many of the participants, the Electriomagnetics and Photonics Week was their first international conference. The organizers hope that the workshop preceding it helped them not only to better integrate themselves into the main event but also to start their own social network and to gain useful insights in their future career opportunities. |

The winner of the Student Paper Contest, Mr. Maxim Nesterov (Institute of Radiophysics & Electronics NASU, Kharkov, Ukraine) was awarded with a travel grant to attend the 2007 ICTP Winter College on Optics, which will be focused on Fiber Lasers and Advances on Fiber Optics. |
